Missouri Spring Snow Goose Hunting
Midwest Waterfowl Outfitters offers guided snow goose hunts starting in mid-February and ending in mid- March in Missouri.
Missouri Snow Goose Hunts
Groups of 6 or more are gauranteed their own field, otherwise groups will be mixed to reach 6-8 hunters per field.
Most snow goose hunts are in the Mound City area, which is home to Squaw Creek NWR. This is a major staging area for the spring snow goose migration as they birds move north towards the breeding grounds.
We do hunt in areas outside of the Mound City, Missouri area depending on what point of the migration we are in. Our snow goose guides are hitting the road every day looking for that perfect field for the following day. Our spring snow hunts are in fields surrounding the refuge and in areas in NW Missouri where the birds stage on their trip north. Depending on the weather we may need to move south to the Kansas City area or SW corner of the state to stay on the early birds.
Early in the season we will be running large 1,000+ decoy spreads to lure in the birds on their way out of the refuge, as the season continues we typically reduce the size of our spread. I do offer hunts on the tail end of the migration, these hunts can be amazing but can also be over with little notice if the birds decide to move north.
Most of the area snow goose guides move north to SD since these hunts can be a little hit and miss. I will only offer these hunts to parties that are willing to hunt either Missouri or South Dakota(link to SD page). These can be the very best hunts of the season, our last 3 day weekend last year had us average 70+ snows per day for the last 3 days with 5 guns in the spread.
Guided snows goose hunts in the NW Missouri area are one of the best opportunity to see up to 500,000 snow geese in a single day. At peak migration this area is simply amazing.
I promise you my guides will show you a great day in the field, since we only run one field per day I can promise you that your hunt will always be on our best field. Just remember the spring snow goose season probably won't be here forever, think about booking that guided hunt before the season is gone forever when the snow population levels out.
Hunting Dates - Our first stop on the migration, we usually start in mid-February and run until the geese leave up to a month later.
